Adam Scott Wins 77th Masters (And I’m Still Cold)

If you missed the Masters, this is the 30-second account of what happened.

After regulation play, Scott Adams and Angel Cabrera were tied with nine under par. The playoff then moved to the 18th hole with Adams leading off. Both players were on the green in two shots. Cabrera and Scott tied the hole. They then ventured to the 10th hole. Cabrera and Scott were both on the green in regulation. Cabrera putted first, but missed his birdie. Scott, using his trusted long putter, buried a birdie to win the 77th Masters. The first time an Aussie had ever won the coveted prize.

I just saved you approximately five hours of viewing time. Most people can’t imagine wasting five hours watching golf. To me, it’s just like watching Idol or Survivor. I guess it’s each to his own desire.

Ginger and I attended the Frantz wedding on Saturday night. Aaron Frantz married Alaina Swabb. We’ve known these two families for a long time. It was a different kind of wedding, with the couple’s desire to make it “country.” The bridesmaids wore cowboy boots, and the groomsmen tan pants with matching vests. The groom also sported a camouflage baseball cap. The dinner was my kind of meal – hamburgers, hot dogs, and all the trimmings. They also had a candy bar, a vegetable bar, and an open bar. The wedding cake was designed and made by Grandma Katie. It was made from brownie mixes with peanut butter icing. It certainly put your sweet tooth in remission.

The bride and groom did all the normal wedding traditions, like cutting the cake, throwing the bride’s bouquet, and the groom tossing the garter to his brother.

The party was just about ready to start, when one of the attendants of the Russia Hall went to the thermostat and started the air conditioner. Personally, I thought it was perfect before she touched it.
As the next hour went by, I kept getting colder and colder. Before the DJ could spin the first song, I looked at Ginger and she looked back at me with a nod of “Let’s go.”

We approached the bride and groom and extended our congratulations and thanked them for inviting us to their special night. And just like the Lone Ranger and Tonto, we were in our car.

“I guess we’re getting old,” I commented on the way home. “I just couldn’t stand the air conditioner on my neck.”

“It was pretty cold,” Ginger agreed.

This week’s bottom line: It’s now official. We’ve both turned into our parents.

Maybe this is what they were trying to accomplish.
