    Celery reduces memory loss

I’ll be 68 in October of this year.

I also have to admit; that the older I get my memory keeps fading away. For example: This week in church I summoned the usher to ask what the name of one of our members was?

    “Why that’s Dave,” he revealed.

“That’s right. I knew that, but just couldn’t remember his name,” I confessed.

“You know, I’m the same way. I can’t remember peoples name either.”

“It only gets worse,” I confessed again.

    This week’s Memory Lesson

There was this old couple having trouble remembering things, so they sign up for a memory course. The course is wonderful; they come home and tell their relatives, friends, and neighbors how good it was.

Several weeks later, a neighbor approaches the man as he was tending his garden.

Neighbor asks, “Say, Gary, what was the name of the instructor of that memory course you liked so much?”

    Gary replies, “Well, it was . . . Hmmm . . . let me think a minute . . .
What’s the name of that cookie, you know, the one that is real spicy, and has snap to them?”

The neighbor replies, “You mean Ginger Snaps?”

Gary replies, “Yeah, that’s it! (Shouting towards the house) Hey Ginger, what was that memory course instructors name?”

This week’s bottom line: A taste for celery is one that many people never acquire, but scientists have just given them a reason to eat it. They have discovered that a chemical found in high concentrations in celery – and in peppers – could halt memory loss, as we get older.
So, the next time you see me, ask me how the celery diet is helping my memory problem?
