Winner's Meats wins FOUR awards

Winner’s Meats Wins FOUR AwardsAt Ohio State Meat Convention!
Winner’s Meats, located in Osgood and Greenville, participated at the Ohio State Meat Association’s Convention in Columbus this past weekend. Meat processors from all over the state entered their best homemade products into competition.
The judges used a variety of criteria such as looks, aroma, texture and, of course, taste, to base their decisions on all of these anonymous entries.
Judges were representatives from Bob Evans Farms, the Food Science Division from Ohio State College, and other prominent members of organizations that deal in the food industry. There also were many vendors showing off their spices, equipment, packaging, and all of the latest products and supplies that are needed in the meat processing industry.
Winner’s Meats proudly came home with FOUR awards this year – two “First Place” and two “Grand Champions.” They received first place awards for their homemade “Blue Ribbon Bologna” and their “Summer Sausage.” They also received two Blue Ribbons or Grand Champion Awards for their “Beef Snack Sticks” and their “Winner’s Wieners.”
Also at the convention, a pleasant surprise was awarded to Urban Winner. He is one of five sons from the second generation of Robert Winner Sons, Inc. He was awarded a Lifetime Membership Award for the contributions he has made to the Ohio State Meat Association over the many years when he and his late wife, Babe, were immensely involved. Babe Winner was the first secretary for this organization and actually headed up the planning stages when it all began many years ago.
